Delicate petals open
Soft and inviting
Visibly alive
Colored by grace
Her stem
Long and unyielding
Brandishing thorns
When necessary
Reminding you
Of your place
Yet love flows
Like dew
Soothing wounds
Dropping kisses
Upon your brow
Alive with color
A soft and strong
Creature of life
A rose
Bright red
Dropping seeds
Shades of pink
Yellow and white
Legacies to bloom
Growing in the sun’s embrace
Always resembling
And remembering
From where they came
Soft and inviting
Visibly alive
Colored by grace
Her stem
Long and unyielding
Brandishing thorns
When necessary
Reminding you
Of your place
Yet love flows
Like dew
Soothing wounds
Dropping kisses
Upon your brow
Alive with color
A soft and strong
Creature of life
A rose
Bright red
Dropping seeds
Shades of pink
Yellow and white
Legacies to bloom
Growing in the sun’s embrace
Always resembling
And remembering
From where they came
This was gorgeous M.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! This is what I would have written about my great grandmother...if I had the talent that you do! She must have been a wonderful person and I know she is deeply missed. Love you! Rachel

ReplyDeleteFriendship fades, Love withers, Leaves begin to fall, A Mother's Love never dies, It outlives them all.

ReplyDeleteYour Noni was a flower, in full bloom, all her days and you are her perennial bee, moving on with life and love in her radiance.
